The blaze began in Putnam County shortly before midnight on Monday, Dec. 23 at an East Court home in Mahopac Falls, fire officials said. The residence was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived at the house.

Flames tore through the roof and rear of the home, leaving it temporarily uninhabitable.

Crews from Mahopac, Putnam Valley, Somers, Lake Mohegan and the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services were able to knock the flames down in approximately 45 minutes, officials said. No injuries were reported.
